THE SEED
“So he, trembling and astonished, said, ”Lord, what do You want me to do?” Then the Lord said to him, “Arise and go into the city, and you will be told what you must do.” Acts 9:6.
This statement was made in a very peculiar situation during the encounter of Saul with Jesus on his way to Damascus to persecute the believers there. He was leading a group that would arrest any believer that would be found in the city. He planned to disgrace and humiliate them by putting them in chains and drag them down to the city of Jerusalem most probably to put them into prison or put them to death. That was when the Lord Jesus Christ spoke to him after a light shone on him. He had a conversation with Jesus. He then asked Jesus “What do you want me to do?”. When you look at the Bible, it is God that asks what people want Him to do for them most times. But in the case of Paul, he was the one asking Jesus what he wanted him to do. We should ask God for direction. We must not assume. It will make the journey easier for us. We cannot always ask God for what we need alone all the time. Man’s want is limitless and that is why you will be tempted most times to continue to ask God what we want and need and not bother to ask God what He wants us to do. When we ask such a question genuinely, it shows that we are not selfish and are concerned about what God wants. We can do something for God even though we are doing it for our benefit.
