WHEN THE HEAVENS OPEN
THE SEED
“In the six hundredth year of Noah’s life, in the second month, the seventeenth day of the month, on that day all the fountains of the great deep were broken up, and the windows of heaven were opened. And the rain was on the earth forty days and forty nights.” Genesis 7:11–12 (NKJV)

This scripture marks a moment of divine fulfilment. After years of obediently following God’s instructions, Noah witnessed the heavens open as God had promised. Though rain had never been seen before, Noah built the ark in faith, enduring mockery from those around him. Then, right on schedule, the heavens opened, the rains fell, and God’s word came to pass. In this passage, the heavens opened as part of God’s judgment. But elsewhere in the Scripture, the opening of heaven signifies blessing (Malachi 3:10), revelation (Ezekiel 1:1), and divine affirmation (Matthew 3:16). The nature of what flows from heaven depends on one’s position with God. Noah’s obedience didn’t prevent the flood; it prepared him to be preserved through it. This reminds us that walking with God does not exempt us from trials, but it guarantees divine preservation. Are you walking in obedience even when God’s plan seems slow or misunderstood? Trust that when the heavens open, God’s purpose will be fulfilled; whether in discipline or blessing. Take a moment to reflect: If the heavens were to open over your life today, what would they release; divine favour or divine judgment?

Mu iṣẹju diẹ lati ronu: Ti awọn ọrun ba ṣii lori igbesi aye rẹ loni, kini wọn yoo tu silẹ; ojurere atọrunwa tabi idajọ atọrunwa?
