Focusing On God In Distress

THE SEED
Be careful for nothing; but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known unto God. Philippians 4 : 6(KJV)

David was greatly distressed when his family and that of his men were taken captive by the Amalekites. The situation and the utterances of men around him were not encouraging. He was their leader so they expected much from him even though he also lost some possessions just like they did. The people focused on their grievances and put a lot of pressures on David to the extent of almost stoning him. However, David, in a state of distress, found encouragement in God. He did not say any blasphemy to God nor did he ignore God despite all pressures in taking his next action. He made sure he asked God if he should pursue the Amalekites and not just pursue them but to also recover all they took from him and his men. God gave him a go ahead and made his pursuit fruitful to the extent that he also captured what belonged to his enemies. This goes to us too as believers, irrespective of whatever distressing situation we may find ourselves, let us always remember that the Lord’s intention towards us is of good and he is using our situation for a testimony. Therefore, we should not ignore Him or give in to pressures because He will always be in the storm with us.
