A CALL TO CHILD-LIKE HUMILITY

THE SEED
”Therefore whoever humbles himself as this little child is the greatest in the kingdom of heaven.“ Matthew 18:4 NKJV

Today, like in His days with the Apostles, Jesus urges us to live a life of humility as His children. Humility demonstrated by the innocence and trust of a child, is a virtue highly valued by the Lord. It is a virtue in our relationship with others and a key to a rich and honourable life in the eyes of God. True humility considers others better than oneself and does nothing out of selfish ambition or vain glory.

Teaching humility, Jesus illustrated the deeper meaning of humility by washing His disciples’ feet in the gospel of Mark chapter 10, Jesus teaches that greatness in His kingdom is tied to being a servant, echoing the importance of humility. Leaving a life of service, having a mindset of serving others rather than being served.

Let us, therefore, strive to embrace the humility of a child, acknowledging our dependence on God and recognising the value of serving others. In doing so, we align ourselves with the teachings of Jesus, positioning ourselves for greatness in the kingdom of heaven.
