GET THEE BEHIND ME, SATAN

GET THEE BEHIND ME, SATAN

THE SEED

“…He rebuked Peter, saying, “Get behind Me, Satan! For you are not mindful of the things of God, but the things of men.” Mark 8:33, NKJV

The Devil is an expert in distraction and diversion. He always intends to divert your attention away from things you should be focused on, to things you should not be focused on. And he is so good at it, he will win over you every time – if you listen to him.

That is why Jesus Christ rebuked his voice, speaking through the disciple, Peter. The Devil wants us to view the seasons of our lives; our challenges; obstacles and difficulties, from a purely natural and human standpoint. He knows that what you focus on, will grow and increase and take up all the space in your mind. He wants us to focus on the things we do not have, rather than be grateful and satisfied with the things that we do have. Just like he did to Eve in the Garden of Eden. Eve walked past thousands of trees bearing different kinds of fruit and nourishment that she had permission to eat; to come and stand in front of the One tree (of the Knowledge of Good and Evil), that God told her and Adam not to eat from. This is how the Devil always operates. He tries to distract us, so he can destroy us. He knows that if he can get us to not be mindful of the things of God, he can successfully get us to fail in life. So, with every decision you have to make; with every situation you find yourself in, and every challenge you face; let your number one question be, ‘What does God expect of me at this time?’ What is God’s position concerning my situation? How does God see my problem? Make a determined decision to be mindful of the things of God, rather than the things of men. There is nothing more profitable for your life than that. Say unto that voice of distraction in your ear – Get thee behind me, Satan!
