THE SEED
“Has not my hand made all these things, and so they came into being?” declares the Lord. “These are the ones I look on with favour: those who are humble and contrite in spirit, and who tremble at my word.” — Isaiah 66:2 (NIV)
As believers, we all desire God’s favour in our lives. We seek His approval, blessings, and guidance. While we can pray specifically for His favour, there are also ways to position ourselves to receive it. When I first learned about intentionally seeking God’s favour, I was surprised. I had assumed that favour was simply granted without any effort on our part. God’s favour is His divine approval, often given even when we don’t deserve it. However, receiving His favour requires us to live in a way that pleases Him. This can look different for each person, but there are biblical principles we can follow. We seek God’s favour by longing for Him—making a conscious effort to draw close to Him, know Him, and recognise His voice. We do this through trusting Him completely—believing that He is faithful and true, Seeking His wisdom—relying on His guidance in all decisions, Living with kindness and compassion—showing His love to others, Obeying His Word—aligning our lives with His commands, Serving others—blessing those around us, Repenting and seeking forgiveness—keeping our hearts pure before Him. When we focus on pleasing God rather than ourselves, we naturally attract His favour. The more we seek to honour Him, the more we experience His blessings in our lives.
