THE SEED
“The name of the man was Nabal and the name of his wife Abigail. And she was a woman of good understanding and beautiful appearance, but the man was harsh and evil in his
doings. He was of the house of Caleb.”1 Samuel 25:3 NKJV
It’s not uncommon to see the descendants of people that serve God being indifferent to God. Such is the case of Nabal the husband of Abigail. He was a descendant of Caleb, one of the spies that were sent to spy on the promised land and one of the two that came back with a good report. He believed in God and worked to support Moses the man of God. Nabal is the total opposite of Caleb in all things. His way of life was the carnal and selfish one, but because of Caleb’s walk with God, Nabal enjoyed the generational blessing that God pronounced upon Caleb and his generation. As Christians, are we faithful in serving God like our forefathers did or we are clouded by the blessings that we enjoy from their services to think that we know God?
We need to know and be sure of our position with God to avoid the judgment of God that says “I know ye not, you workers of iniquity.”
PRAYER
God, please enable me to serve you wholeheartedly more than anyone that existed in my family. Amen
