Don’t Be Authoritatively Prescriptive In Your Request

THE SEED

“Can anyone tell the Lord what to do? Who can teach Him or give Him advice? With whom does God consult to know and understand and to learn how things should be done?” Isaiah 40:13-14 GNT

In the area of communication, there is a difference between ‘tell’ and ‘ask’. Telling someone to do something is giving them instruction or order to do as they are told, it’s an
authoritative language. Alternatively, asking is the language of making the request. The scripture above asks whether anyone can tell God what to do? The answer is complete no! No human is given such privilege because the pot cannot ask the potter ‘why have you made me in this form?’ We are God’s creation; the work of His hands and we must always let this guide us in all our dealings with Him. Some prayers will never be answered if one keeps telling God, ‘This is what I want, this is where and when I want it, and this is how I want it done!’ That is being prescriptive. He will never answer such prayers. All we need to do is to always make our request known to God by asking in humility and leave with God the how and when it’s done because it is God’s area of jurisdiction. Trust Him, God knows the best approach to sort us out.

PRAYER

Lord, let me always be guided by your Spirit in all my requests before You. Amen
