THE SEED “Do not be hasty with your mouth [speaking careless words or vows] or impulsive in thought to bring up a matter before God. For God is in heaven and you are on earth; therefore, let your words be few.” Ecclesiastes 5:1-2 AMP
Fools parade their ignorance in words and actions in the gathering of people. This might be pardoned amongst people, although with its consequences. But in a meeting with our Creator, in His presence, such conduct is regarded as totally unacceptable because God is not a human that you can joke with or say things you don’t mean to. We must be careful of the covenants and promises that our mouths utter in God’s presence, as well as our behaviour. Don’t let emotions rule your mind, but carefully weigh what you want to say before you utter a word, so that you will not experience the painful ordeal of Jephthah, who hastily made an emotional covenant before God and ended up with the sacrifice of his only daughter and child to fulfil his unthoughtful promise after his victory in war. Don’t act carelessly with words like Eli when he said “ He’s God, let Him do what pleases Him” and God did do what pleased Him, but not to Eli’s favour, and the dynasty of the priesthood was taken away from his family. Remember that God is in heaven, and you are on earth; therefore, let your words be few and of reverence before Him.
PRAYER
Lord Jesus, enable me to be wise in words and actions in Your presence always. Amen
