THE SEED:
“Lay not up for yourselves treasures upon earth, where moth and rust doth corrupt, and where thieves break through and steal” Matthew 6:19
Jesus Christ, our Lord and Savior, is so kind to make clear to us two locations where treasures are kept: on Earth and in heaven. There are several qualities about these two locations that are noteworthy. There are limitations to keeping valuables on Earth because moth and rust there could ruin them and even thieves could gain access to the treasures and take them. Heaven, on the other hand, is an unlimited storage facility for valuables; neither rust nor moth can ruin them, nor can robbers break in and take them. What one individual may consider to be a treasure, another individual may not. Therefore, everything our heart desires and requires our full focus and attention can be viewed as a treasure. The message of our Lord Jesus Christ is held in the highest regard by God. As a result, individuals whose hearts beat for the gospel and who give it their full attention and quality of time are storing up treasures in heaven. Furthermore, people who support the gospel are storing up wealth in paradise. Believers, the location of your treasures indicates the state of your heart.
