THE SEED
“Know therefore that the LORD thy God, he is God, the faithful God, which keepeth covenant and mercy with them that love him and keep his commandments to a thousand generations” Deuteronomy 7:9
The Bible informs us that God is the covenant keeper and refers to His promises as covenants. In other words, He always follows through on what He promises. Therefore, His people follow through on those promises in trust. In the Old Testament, God made a covenant with a people that He had chosen. Affirmation of this promise was given to Abraham, Moses, and David. That covenant’s seal was made with the blood of animals offered as sacrifices. A new covenant was established between God and His people through the life, death, burial, and resurrection of Jesus Christ, and that covenant was permanently sealed in Christ’s blood. We face formidable challenges. It could be a marriage issue for some people or work issues for others. Your troubles may be financial, relational, physical, spiritual, or your kids may be rebelling. But no matter what challenge we encounter, His covenant pledge upholds us. You must be converted in order to bind yourself to this covenant. You must identify with Jesus Christ. We have entered into God’s new covenant as Christians, and it is this covenant with God that motivates us to formally vow to other Christians.
