Humility

THE SEED
Surely he scorneth the scorners, but he giveth grace unto the lowly. Proverbs 3:34 KJV

Humility is the characteristic of being humble in character and behavior- the quality of having a modest or low view of one’s importance. It is the freedom from pride or arrogance; the quality or state of being humble. God is the opposite of what we would consider humble. He is not arrogant or prideful. To humble oneself is to acknowledge God as Lord and to obey as servant. God invites us to humble ourselves. Jesus did not glorify himself, but he learned to obey the things which he suffered (Hebrews 5:8-9). Jesus is the author of eternal salvation unto all them that obey him. Jesus humbled himself to the point of death. He sacrificed himself on the cross of calvary. Humility is the best way to work with God. Jesus didn’t yield to temptation, He fasted for forty days and night before he was tempted. Turning stone to bread is what Jesus can do but he humbled himself and surrendered himself to his Father in heaven. Humility is an acknowledgment that our talents and abilities are gifts from God. It is not a sign of weakness, timidity, or fear. It is an indication that we know where our true strength lies.
