“Put away your sword, Jesus told him. Those who use the sword will die by the sword.” Matthew 26:51-52 NLT
The above scripture is a verse that shared one of the incidents that occurred when Jesus was arrested and going to die for us. It was an agonising and crucial time for Jesus. Yet Jesus did not allow this huge burden he was about to carry change His personality. He maintained His character to the end. His love and compassion were shown on the slave whose ear was slashed off by putting it back together. He still had the heart to bring correction to the disciples. Throughout this entire episode of Jesus’ crucifixion, not at any time did the Bible mention that he allowed his pain and suffering to get the better of Him. Jesus is our example and role model. If He can go through all the sufferings without changing His person, we do not have any excuse of losing our cool and personality just because we found ourselves in some unpalatable situations. There are many Christians that tend to easily exhibit some demeaning behaviours such as anger, quarrelling, swearing, corruption, and more, just to defend themselves in the face of opposition without even thinking about it. Remember that the personality of Jesus never changed. So don’t allow the person you are as a child of God to change whenever you find yourself in any unpleasant situations.
