GUARD YOUR ACTIONS WISELY
THE SEED
“Whoever digs a pit may fall into it; whoever breaks through a wall may be bitten by a snake. Whoever quarries stones may be injured by them; whoever splits logs may be endangered by them.” — Ecclesiastes 10:8–9 (NIV)
This scripture is often quoted as a prayer against enemies, but the principle also applies to us. Just as a trap can catch an enemy, it can also harm the one who set it. David once pronounced judgment on a rich man who wronged another, only to discover through Nathan the prophet that he was judging himself. Carelessness and sin can make even the strongest believer vulnerable. As Christians, we must be careful in our dealings with others and guard against actions or words that can bring unintended harm. God expects us to live wisely, treating others with fairness, integrity, and caution. Walking in wisdom protects us from digging pits that we ourselves may fall into.
Reflection: A careless hand can build a trap for itself. Walk wisely.
BIBLE READING: 2 Samuel 12:1–10
PRAYER: Father in Jesus’ name, help me to walk in wisdom, knowledge, and truth, so I do not hurt others or fall into my own trap. Amen.
