GUARDING WHAT YOUR EYES SEE

GUARDING WHAT YOUR EYES SEE

THE SEED

“I have made a covenant with my eyes; why then should I look upon a young woman?” — Job 31:1 NKJV

The human eye functions like a camera, capturing and storing what it sees. Once an image enters the mind, it becomes part of the memory, shaping thoughts and emotions. This is why what we expose our eyes to matters deeply. Eve saw the forbidden fruit, desired it, and fell into disobedience proving that what the eye sees can direct the heart’s desires. In today’s world, we are surrounded by immodesty, pornography, and sensual images that erode purity and spiritual strength. What starts as “just looking” often leads to bondage. Jesus warned that lustful looks are the seeds of sin. As Christians, we must guard our eyes and glorify God in our bodies, rejecting worldly trends that compromise holiness.

By setting boundaries and fixing our gaze on what is pure and noble, we preserve both our purity and spiritual strength. The power of the Holy Spirit helps us mortify the deeds of the flesh and walk in holiness. Reflect: What are your eyes frequently taking in  and how is it shaping your thoughts and spiritual life?

BIBLE READINGS:  Matthew 5:27–29

PRAYER: Father, help me to guard my eyes and walk in purity. Strengthen me to glorify You in my thoughts and body. Amen.
