JEHOVAH JIREH

JEHOVAH JIREH

THE SEED

“And Abraham called the name of that place Jehovahjireh: as it is said to this day, In the mount of the Lord it shall be seen” Genesis 22: 14, KJV

In Genesis 22, we read the story of how God tested Abraham by asking him to sacrifice his son, Isaac. Even though God does not do human sacrifice. Abraham dutifully took his son to the appointed altar and prepared to follow through on the command. He was convinced that God was able to return his son to life, hence his assertion to his servants that he and the boy would go worship the Lord and return to them. But God stopped him and showed him a ram caught by its horns in a thicket, and he killed the ram instead. Abraham then uttered the words in verse 14 of our text above. Let us paraphrase what he was saying: on the mountain of the Lord, the provision of God shall be seen. In other words, God does not issue a commission without a provision. If He has sent you on an errand, then be assured He has provided the means for you to complete that errand. We, as God’s children, should have total confidence in the provision of God. If He sends you somewhere, you cannot lack the resources to get there. On the other hand, when we find ourselves lacking or in want, we need to examine ourselves and check if we are occupying the place He expects us to occupy, doing what He wants us to do. He is committed to providing you with what you need for what He has sent you to do. So when you do not have what you need, you have to check to see if you are doing the right things, and in the right place. For on the mountain of the Lord, the provision of God shall be seen.
