LEAN NOT ON YOUR UNDERSTANDING

THE SEED

“Trust in the Lord with all your heart, And lean not on your own understanding; In all your ways acknowledge Him, And He shall direct your paths.” Proverbs 3:5-6 NKJV

The above Bible verse is King David’s admonition to all Christians. According to our Bible reading below, Lot chose an area that looked good to his eyes. And it was indeed a good and fertile land; the bible says so. But Lot only saw the beauty of the land physically. He could not see the people; or what they were like. He could not see what the immediate future of that beautiful land was. Lot did not know that the government and the people of Sodom had rebelled against their masters. And within two years of moving there, the whole country got  consumed by war, and the many flocks and cattle, servants and wealth that caused the separation from Abram and were due to be seized from him by foreign invaders (Genesis 14). He had no way of knowing any of this, from where he was standing. But God knew. Beloved, it is a shock to know that most Christians have not fully accepted in their hearts that God knows better than them. Yes, we sing songs about it, and we mention seeking Godly wisdom in prayer. However, the actions of many Christians demonstrate that they lean upon their understanding in making decisions more than on God. Let God direct your heart. Think, plan, then bring your plans to Him; before you move. He knows what is going to happen. He is the only One who knows.

BIBLE READING: Genesis 14:1-11

PRAYER: Heavenly Father, I thank you for my intellect. But I will not rely on my knowledge alone in my decisions, I accept your direction in all I do, in Jesus name. Amen.
