Pillar Of Cloud And Fire

THE SEED
And the LORD went before them by day in a pillar of a cloud, to lead them the way; and by night in a pillar of fire, to give them light; to go by day and night: Exodus 13:21

The Israelites were reminded of God’s presence in their life by the pillars of cloud and fire. They are being led by these enormous pillars, which give them the freedom to move at any hour of the day and never leave them. God’s influence is palpable and genuine. Therefore, God never abandoned them. We serve a God who never deserts his people. He provided His people with light, truth, and direction through the pillar of cloud and fire. God wants to lead us like a shepherd would his flock, not as a magician would perform tricks on a bewildered audience. His Word has nothing to say about topics that primarily pique our curiosity because He wants to offer us His life, but instead focuses on the intellect, understanding, and heart. God desires to guide us into a deeper life of faith and power, reveal His thoughts to us, and make known His presence through the things He accomplishes through us every day, the salvation of souls around us, the crushing of haughty and sinful hearts, the opening of heathen nations to the Gospel, the working of His providence in the events of our time, the evangelization of the world, and these mighty overturnings which are to bring the glorification of His Son.

PRAYER
Order my step, oh Lord. Let me not go astray.
