THE SEED
“Those who were foolish took their lamps and took no oil with them, 4 but the wise took oil in their vessels with their lamps.” Matthew 25:3-4
Before a ship sets sail, it is the sailor’s duty to check the ship and make sure features such as engines, mapping system, safety jackets etc. are working correctly for a safe voyage. If anything is found faulty, he must fix it. Likewise, a wise believer must check his spiritual life and ensure he is spiritually ready to face the new year. To be prepared means checking specific areas of your spiritual life such as prayer, meditation, stewardship, fellowship, evangelism; and making sure you have them in the right measure for a fruitful year. This was the wisdom of the five virgins who had extra oil for their lamp. Every year is always filled with twists and turns; only those who are spiritually prepared will weather the storm. In Luke 14 vs 28, Jesus emphasized on the need to plan and prepare as a requirement for a successful spiritual journey. Those who fail to plan are certainly planning to fail. Now is the time to reflect on where you are lacking in your spiritual life and take necessary steps to reposition yourself for a safe voyage in 2024.
