Beware of Bad Company
THE SEED
…bad company corrupts good character. – 1 Cor 15:33
Walking with bad company, someone of different opinion about your Christian life, can easily draw you back to the world and make you develop cold feet towards your faith in the Lord. Apostle Paul gave a strict warning about this to the Corinthians. He sternly warned them not to be yoked together with unbelievers. As children of light, we should not be enticed by things and relationships of the world. Our fellowship must be in the Lord with brethren of same faith that can encourage us in times of challenges, pray with us, show us love in the Lord and help us to be back on our feet when we fall short or go astray.
So, if we totally believe beyond any doubt that by God’s grace, we are born again, justified, saved and redeemed by the blood of Jesus Christ, then we must watch out, not to be yoked with people that don’t share our faith and experience in the Lord Jesus. Yes, they might be close relatives, superior or colleagues at work, neighbours, and childhood friends. We can’t renounce them or be unfriendly to them, but wisdom is the principal thing. Let’s depend on the Holy Spirit for wisdom to navigate our way with them in love; but remember that if the Bible says “…bad company corrupts good character”, it does indeed.
PRAYER
Lord Jesus, I ask for wisdom to deal with unbelievers on my path to show them the love of Christ but never get mixed up with their ways. Amen
