”So teach us to number our days that we may get a heart of wisdom.“ Psalm 90:12
Beloved, to have a bit of reflection on the concept of sacrificing time in our fast-paced lives, we would discover how time often slip away unnoticed, but the scripture reminds us of its significance by teaching us that we need to apply wisdom in the use of our days. This also means that there will be accountability for how our time is being used. Considering how Jesus sacrificed His time for others, He taught us that we can be wise in sharing our time with others and not being selfish by being in comfort all the time. We can choose to spend our time with people of the same mind who would appreciate the sacrifice of our time not with time wasters but with people who need our help. In the book of Mark 6:31, Jesus invited his disciples to join him in a quiet place to observe some rest after the feedback from their outing. Despite the demands on His time, Jesus understood the importance of rest and reflection yet he was willing to share this personal period with others, when he saw people that needed His help, Jesus decided to attend to them. As His followers, we should also emulate this sacrificial use of time and not be selfish with our time. We should be wise to sacrifice our time for meaningful and rewarding endeavours like praying, studying the Bible, nurturing relationships, serving others, and deepening our spiritual walk.
