THE SEED
Make every effort to keep the unity of the Spirit through the bond of peace. Ephesians 4:3
Relationships are ruined by sin, and we are cut off from God. These effects are clearly visible in the story of Adam and Eve. They lived apart from God as a result of disobedience, which damaged their relationship with Him. Later, Cain, their son, killed Abel, his brother. This pattern of estrangement, resentment, wrath, and violence is still brought on by sin in modern times. But God the Father made it possible for each of us to be made right with Him by sending His Son Jesus to die in our place. We transit from a condition of alienation to a permanent adoption as His offspring when we embrace His offer of salvation (John 1:12; Ephesians 1:5). We can also experience a unity with other Christians that is shown through the bond of peace because the Holy Spirit indwells believers to bring direction and instruction (Ephesians 4:3). This in no way implies uniformity because we are all different. It does, however, emphasise the need of living in deference to the Father and exhibiting traits that will deepen ties with our spiritual family. Are you a child of God already? then prioritise existing in harmony with others (Romans 12:18). If you haven’t yet heeded God’s call, nevertheless, why not do so right now?
PRAYER
Oh Lord, give me the grace to live in harmony with others, Amen.
