THE SEED
Beware lest any man spoil you through philosophy and vain deceit, after the tradition of men, after the rudiments of the world, and not after Christ. Colossians 2:8
The apostle Paul warned the Colossian church of the enemy’s plan to get them back into his web. The devil intended to accomplish this through philosophy and hollow deception with regard to custom and basic worldly values. The enemy’s and his dark allies’ strategy is still in effect today. He has added topics and courses to the curriculum that aim to insult our beliefs.
The big bang theory, which denies God the credit for creating the world, serves as an illustration. Another example is the erroneous notion held by certain Jews that one cannot be
born again unless they have had physical circumcision. All things old, including human customs and philosophies, perish when a person is born again (2 Corinthians 5:17). The believer in Christ must adopt both God’s culture as revealed in the scriptures and God’s Word. The Bible instructs you on how to have a virtuous and successful life that is free from spiritual slavery. As John cautions in his epistles, we should be wary of the Gnostic Gospels. The Social Gospel may seem enticing, but it is not the Saving Gospel, and the outcome will be horrifying. A person can only enter heaven by accepting the Saving Gospel.
PRAYER
Save me from all forms of deception that I may not lose sight of heaven.
