Getting To Know God

THE SEED
But let him who boasts boast of this, that he understands and knows Me, that I am the LORD who exercises lovingkindness, justice and righteousness on earth; for I delight in these things, declares the LORD. Jeremiah 9:24

The Scriptures from today show that God want for us to know and understand Him (John 17:3). However, it takes time; it’s a lifelong endeavour. As time passes, our connection with Him should grow more fulfilling and fascinating, as we continue to learn about our Savior. We ought to begin with the Word of the Lord since that is where He exposes Himself. Our conception of God should be consistent with what the Bible says about Him. The Bible is full of descriptions of God’s attributes and workings. Look for His characteristics, desires, and ways as you read. Try talking with the Lord through meditation and prayer. Ask Him questions about anything you don’t understand when you talk to Him about what you’ve learned. Ask Him also for guidance on how to put His lessons into practice. You will discover His faithfulness—and the fact that He is your closest friend—when you take these actions. Amazingly, the universe’s creator and ruler desires to interact with you so that you may get to know Him better. Spend time with Him in quietness and contemplate Him.

PRAYER
Heavenly Father, reveal yourself unto me more and more that I may continue to learn of your faithfulness and love. Amen.
