BE WISE WITH YOUR WORDS BEFORE GOD

BE WISE WITH YOUR WORDS BEFORE GOD

THE SEED

“Guard your steps and focus on what you are doing as you go to the house of God and draw near to listen rather than to offer the [careless or irreverent] sacrifice of fools… Do not be hasty with your mouth… For God is in heaven and you are on earth; therefore let your words be few.” — Ecclesiastes 5:1–2 (AMP)

God takes our words seriously, especially those spoken in His presence. Jephthah made a rash vow and paid dearly for it. Eli’s careless resignation also paved the way for judgment in his house. Words spoken in haste can carry lifelong consequences. Reverence begins with listening. When we come before God, we must weigh our words carefully, honour our vows, and let obedience—not impulse—be our offering. Worship is more about the posture of the heart than the number of words spoken. A listening heart speaks less but obeys more.

Reflection: Words before God should be spiritually led.

BIBLE READING: Judges 11:29–35

PRAYER: Lord Jesus, make me wise and reverent in Your presence. Teach me to listen, speak carefully, and honour every word before You. Amen.
