DILIGENCE: THE PATHWAY TO GOOD SUCCESS
THE SEED
“Not slothful in business; fervent in spirit; serving the Lord.” — Romans 12:11 KJV
Diligence is a key virtue that leads to lasting success and glorifies God. A business or task done carelessly never produces excellence. Just as a restaurant that serves undercooked meals loses customers, so also mediocrity robs us of opportunities and influence. Jesus Himself modelled diligence, completing His earthly assignment with zeal and precision within a short time. He said, “My Father worketh hitherto, and I work” (John 5:17). David also showed diligence when facing Goliath. He didn’t stop at knocking him down but completed the task with precision by cutting off his head. Diligence is not just hard work — it’s focused, excellent, purposeful work that reflects the nature of God in us. When we approach every task with excellence, we bring glory to God and position ourselves for His reward. Whether in ministry, career, business, or family life, diligence sets us apart as light in a dark world. God has already given us the manual for success — His Word. If we follow it with zeal and discipline, good success will follow (Joshua 1:8). Reflect: In what area of your life do you need to replace half-measures with diligence and excellence?
