THE SEED
Now that you have purified yourselves by obeying the truth so that you have sincere love for each other, love one another deeply, from the heart. 1 Peter 1:22
In one of His last recorded prayers, Jesus prayed the prayer for unity in the church three times, demonstrating that He understood its significance (John 17:11; John 17:20-23). Let’s examine many facets of our faith that tie us together as believers in order to honor Jesus’ prayer. God accepts people into His family regardless of their ethnicity, gender, or religious affiliation. All that is necessary is faith in Jesus Christ (Galatians 3:28). The Holy Spirit resides within every Christian. Although we may look different on the exterior, as Christians, we are all empowered and led by the Spirit. As Christians, we all look forward to Jesus’ return and eternal life with Him. All people are under the authority of Jesus. Every aspect of life should be lived in submission to His rule. One faith unites believers and is based on the following fundamental truths. Jesus, who is God, was spotless throughout His life, died on the cross to atone for our sins, resurrected from the dead, and ascended into heaven, where He now sits at the right side of the Father. We can more easily accept our differences if we can learn to see what we have in common. People will be open to hearing the good news that God gives a means to live in peace both with Him and with others after seeing our oneness.
PRAYER
Oh Lord, give me the Spirit to love my neighbour as myself and to be in one accord with others.
