PRACTICING HOSPITALITY

THE SEED

”Contribute to the needs of the saints and seek to show hospitality.“ Romans 12:13

Hospitality is an act of welcoming others with open hearts and open homes to attend to their needs. It’s also acceptable that acts of hospitality are from a gracious and willing heart, done without complaint or reluctance to show the love of Christ in our actions. It is not just a gesture; it is a practice, a way of living out our faith in tangible ways. It extends beyond our comfort zones to embrace the needs of others. Christ Himself identifies with those in need, teaching us that our hospitality extends beyond mere physical provision to a welcoming of hearts and souls. He catered for both the spiritual and physical needs of people. In the world we’re living in today, it might be a bit difficult to be welcoming to just anybody both known and unknown strangers because the devil might take advantage of hospitality to deceive and cause havoc. Yet it is a command of God for us to practice hospitality, so it becomes unavoidably impossible for us to close our eyes and minds. We need to be cautious with the help of the Holy Spirit to do the will of God in performing our hospitality activities so as not to fall into wrong hands. As we embrace the virtue of hospitality, let us remember the words of Jesus “By this everyone will know that you are my disciples if you love one another.”

BIBLE READINGS:  Matthew 25:36-40

PRAYER: Lord, let my heart be open, not just to those I  know, but to strangers, friends, and even angels in disguise, that through hospitality, I may show them the love of Christ. Amen
