Rewards For Believing

THE SEED

“Now the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace in believing, that ye may abound in hope, through the power of the Holy Ghost.” Romans 15:13

People crave joy and peace deeply and won’t be happy until they have them. Once they do, they will also appreciate them intensely until they are truly filled with these emotions. Doubt creeps in and a believer in Christ Jesus starts to lose many things the moment he or she starts to cease believing. First of all, he loses access to God’s power to move things forward because uncertainty robs people of confidence, and God depends on our faith in Him to bless us (Hebrews 11:6). Second, he ceases to believe the truth of God’s Word, and such a person hardly ever studies the Bible. Jesus Christ urged the Apostle Thomas to maintain his faith in order to dispel his mistrust and unbelief (John 20:27). Christians should pray for one another’s faith so that they may have trust in the Holy Scriptures and the various promises of God contained therein until they have experienced them. Although we don’t always experience joy and tranquillity, in general, these emotions represent the benefits of believing—and they are benefits not just occasionally but always.
